注2：伯伦达，一种织毯。

注3：靴子岗，美国西部牛仔若死于枪战或绞刑，即被人称为“穿着靴子死”，埋葬他们的坟茔人称“靴子岗”。

注4：“总是又多道刻印总是再向前十步”：枪手们每杀一人，便在枪柄上刻一道印痕；决斗时，双方各自向前走十步，然后拔枪转身射击。

注5：警长帕特·加勒特曾经是比利的挚友。
